Guillermo Del Toro Contributes To New 'Silent Hill' Game Starring Norman Reedus
Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima has long said he wanted to make a Silent Hill game, and his first effort for the series has been revealed after months of teasing.
Strangely, Kojima has a couple big names working with him. A demo game called P.T. hit the PlayStation 4 today, and upon completion revealed vague details of the upcoming game Silent Hills. Three names come on screen before that title appears: Hideo Kojima, Guillermo del Toro, and Norman Reedus. The actor's face is also seen as an in-game character (above).
We don't know what role Guillermo del Toro played in developing the game, nor whether Reedus will provide more than his likeness. Presumably we'll find that Reedus is also voicing his character. (Indeed, Variety confirms as much.)
The last numbered Silent Hill game was Silent Hill 4: The Room, though there have been five more games in the series, for home consoles and portable systems, since the release of The Room in 2004. The title Silent Hills seems like a specific play on Silent Hill 5, especially as it appears on screen at the end of the demo.
Polygon points to this Twitch video that contains a full play through of the hour-long P.T. demo, and where, at about the 1:16:00 mark, you'll find the completion of the demo and reveal of the title and participants.
Here's an embed of the credits and title reveal (sorry, this is without sound):
