'The Prince' Trailer: Bruce Willis And Jason Patric Play Out Their Own Version Of 'Taken'
Every once in a while a trailer is just demoralizing. Take The Prince, for example. There's Bruce Willis, looking at first like he might be committing to his role. Jason Patrick shows up — often a good sign — but the plot reveals itself to be another knock-off of Taken. In this case, Willis plays a bad guy who is angry at Patric, himself a former assassin. So Willis kidnaps Patric's daughter and, well, we start to feel like we know how it is going to go. (John Cusack factors in, somehow, as a wild card.) As a fan of both actors I couldn't resist watching the trailer, and now we'll pass it to you.
There's got to be something more to it than this makes apparent, right? Possibly not, since director Brian A. Miller seems to work very much in this sort of middle-of-the-road action mode. See also The Outsider, Officer Down, and Caught in the Crossfire. A couple of those films feature cast members who show up in The Prince (Patric and 50 Cent have both worked with Miller before, which might suggest that actors like working with him) but having Willis on board ups the profile of this one.
The Prince opens in theaters on On Demand on August 22. Yahoo has the trailer.
A retired assassin is drawn back into the life he gave up when his daughter is kidnapped. To rescue her, he must confront his former rival.
