Margot Robbie Enters Talks For 'Tarzan' And 'Z For Zachariah'
Warner Bros.' Tarzan has found its Jane. Margot Robbie is in talks to play the female lead in the big-budget Edgar Rice Burroughs adaptation, opposite Alexander Skarsgard as Tarzan. David Yates is directing.
Meanwhile, she's also entered talks to star in Craig Zobel's Z for Zachariah, replacing previously cast star Amanda Seyfried. In that one, she'll be starring alongside Chris Pine and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Hit the jump for more details on both of her upcoming projects.
Z for Zachariah centers on a young woman (Robbie) in a post-apocalyptic world. She believes herself to be the only human being left alive, until two men (Pine and Ejiofor) emerge. The psychological thriller was adapted by Nissar Modi from a novel by Robert O'Brien.
As for Tarzan, Robbie has been rumored for the part for months. (Emma Stone and Jessica Chastain were in the mix earlier on.) Her casting rounds out the main cast. Christoph Waltz and Samuel L. Jackson are also set to star, with the former playing the villain.
The Australian actress first became known to U.S. audiences on ABC's short-lived Pan Am, but she broke through in a big way last year as Naomi Lapaglia, the Duchess of Bay Ridge, in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street.
Warner Bros. is already a huge fan of hers, having previously cast her opposite Will Smith in Focus, from Crazy, Stupid, Love. directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa. She'll also be seen this year with Michelle Williams, Ruth Wilson, and Kristin Scott Thomas in The Weinstein Co.'s romantic drama Suite Francaise.
