Two Working Titles For 'Star Wars Episode VII' Revealed
If I could have one small sliver of information today about Star Wars Episode VII, it would be the title. Three or four simple words could give fans months of fuel for speculation. It's not too much to ask, is it? Well considering most of the other Star Wars titles weren't revealed until much closer to release, we probably shouldn't hold our breaths.
Still, George Lucas apparently had two such titles in mind when he conceived the film and sold it to Disney, and those have now been revealed. Plus, with the recent news he and J.J. Abrams have been talking a lot about the film, maybe these working titles – even if they don't come to fruition – could give a hint at the story. Read them below.
Latino Review reported on these two working titles:
Return of the Sith and Rise of the Jedi
Let's be frank. Both of these titles kind of stink. They sound fan made. They're just so obvious considering three of the six Star Wars movies have gone with the "of the" construction and already used those words: "Attack of the Clones," "Return of the Jedi," "Revenge of the Sith." Plus, from everything we've heard, Abrams and company are trying to be anything but obvious with these films. But as innovative as they can try to be, it's pretty obvious what has to happen in this new trilogy. New Jedi will battle bad guys. And since the Jedi were all but extinct at the end of the last film, and the Sith were extinct, both of these titles would seem like the natural progression of that story.
So we'll see. Remember though, these are 100% working titles Latino Review says Lucas had tossed around a year or more ago. Nothing more.
