Bored Action Star Bruce Willis To Star In Action Thriller 'The Prince'
Despite his declaration last month that he was "a bit bored" of action movies, Bruce Willis is apparently still eager to "earn lots of money" from the genre. The Die Hard star has signed on for The Prince, an action-thriller from Russian director Sarik Andreasyan. Emmet/Furla, who've recently worked with Willis on Lay the Favorite and Fire With Fire, will finance and produce. Hit the jump for plot details and more.
Andre Fabrizio and Jeremy Passmore wrote the script, which centers around a retired mob enforcer who's forced to return to Las Vegas after his teenage daughter goes missing. Willis will play a guy who's waited a long time for the enforcer to come back, and who intends to confront him when he does.
Fabrizio and Passmore have worked on several action-thrillers over the years, though not all of them have made it to the big screen yet. Those include Nocturne, which Len Wiseman was to direct, DMZ, about the North Korean-South Korean border; and Stranglehold, based on the 2007 video game sequel to John Woo's Hard Boiled.
Andresyan has directed several films in his native Russia. He makes his English-language debut next year with American Heist, a remake of Steve McQueen's The Great St. Louis Bank Robbery, which will star Hayden Christensen, Adrien Brody, Jordana Brewster, and Akon.
Willis starred this year in A Good Day to Die Hard, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and Red 2, and will appear in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For next year. He also has American Assassin, Expiration, and (possibly) Die Hardest coming up beyond that. The Prince will shoot next month in New Orleans.
