New Image From 'Elysium' Highlights Sharlto Copley As A Grimy Assassin
Today we've had new images from Star Trek Into Darkness, and now we've got a new look at another one of 2013's other big sci-fi adventures: Elysium, from District 9 director Neill Blomkamp. We still haven't seen a trailer, and only a couple official photos have surfaced from the film before this.
The other pics show Matt Damon, who plays a guy trying to get to the rich society of Elysium, which hovers above Earth and holds the key to his survival. This is District 9 star Sharlto Copley as Kruger, a dirty, dangerous mercenary/bounty hunter on the trail of Damon's desperate character. Elysium also stars Jodie Foster, Wagner Moura, Alice Braga and Diego Luna. Hit the jump for the full pic.
Thanks to Empire for the image. The film is set for release on August 9, 2013.
In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn't stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.
