Second 'The Croods' Trailer Explores The Big Bad World
DreamWorks just took a giant bath on Rise of the Guardians, but is soldiering on with the task of selling its upcoming slate. The next release from the company's animation arm is The Croods, an Ice Age-style story about a prehistoric human family who daughter (voiced by Emma Stone) is desperate to explore the outside world. The Croods are forced out of their cave only to come face to face with a strapping young hero (voiced by Ryan Reynolds) willing to guide them away from the end of the world.
This new trailer isn't as effective as the first teaser was, in part, I think, because it focuses on goofier lowbrow humor, rather than spectacle. But there's an audience that will love this, I'm sure, so have a look below.
I'm glad for the reminder that even prehistoric women love shoes. Because that's a stereotype that's never not funny. That said, it's fun to see that an animated caveman based on Nicolas Cage is no less believable than the real thing. (That's said with real appreciation, mind you.)
Apple has the trailer. The Croods also features the voices of Catherine Keener, Clark Duke, and Cloris Leachman. It opens on March 22, 2013.
The Croods is a prehistoric comedy adventure that follows the world's first family as they embark on a journey of a lifetime when the cave that has always shielded them from danger is destroyed. Traveling across a spectacular landscape, the Croods discover an incredible new world filled with fantastic creatures — and their outlook is changed forever.
