'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2' VMA Trailer: Rally The Clans, Prepare For Battle
The publicists that be kept Kristen Stewart off the stage at MTV's VMA ceremony tonight when some of the Twilight cast assembled to present a new 90-second trailer for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2. So the most awkward part of the Twilight portion of the evening was just the effects in the trailer, and that's not such a big deal. In fact, the film's dodgy effects are almost charming at this point, as they've been so thoroughly embraced by the films over the past few years.
The difference here is that, with the core romantic drama resolved in the last film as Bella and Edward (Stewart and Robert Pattinson) finally married and had their weird super-baby Renesmee, this movie is about resolving the drama between vampire clans. And that means battle, and more effects sequences than in previous chapters.
Indeed, this short trailer makes the movie look like the final buildup to one big fight scene. It also reveals a bit more of Mackenzie Foy as Renesmee, as vampire rule-keepers the Volturi prepare to attack.
So there's some stuff there that wasn't in the theatrical trailer, even though the structure of the pieces are similar. I like Edward's dialogue about persistently underestimating Bella, mostly because it makes their whole romance look even more strange than it seemed in the first place. And that was already pretty damn strange.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 opens on November 16.
The astonishing conclusion to the series, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN, PART 2, illuminates the secrets and mysteries of this spellbinding romantic epic that has entranced millions.
