Two Different 'Man Of Steel' Trailers Are Attached To 'The Dark Knight Rises'
With a midnight gross over $30 million, The Dark Knight Rises is on its way to an almost $100 million Friday. Christopher Nolan would certainly prefer you see the film in 70mm IMAX but, if you do, you won't get the attached trailers (the film is simply too big). One of those trailers is Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman film Man of Steel, offering the first glimpse of the film outside of San Diego Comic-Con's Hall H. You can read about that footage here (and watch a video blog here) but, the bigger news is, there are apparently two different Man of Steel trailers playing in front of The Dark Knight Rises screenings right now.
One features a voice over by Pa Kent (Kevin Costner) the other, Jor-El (Russell Crowe) and it seems like the placement is totally random. After the jump, we've got descriptions of both trailers, neither of which are as revealing as the Comic-Con reel.
Here's a description of the trailers by Superman Homepage:
We see seawater over rocks. Washing swinging in the breeze on a clothesline. A bird flying. The words "Next Year". A fishing boat at sea. A bearded Clark Kent is a fisherman on the boat. He throws a trawling cage over the side of the boat. The words "From Zack Snyder. The Director of Watchmen & 300". A photo of Jonthan and Clark Kent at the Science Fair. A boy with a red cape tied to around his neck runs near the washing line. Clark Kent hitchhiking in Alaska as a semi trailer truck drives by. The words "And Producer of Christopher Nolan. Director of the Dark Knight Trilogy". A frozen or dusty landscape. We then see a butterfly on a chain. A dog playing with the kid in a cape playing near the clothesline. The words MAN OF STEEL. Then we see Superman flying up in the air... Way up in the air, creating a sonic boom. Then the "S" shield comes together. "2013".
In the USA the teaser trailer was accompanied by Jonathan Kent's voice over: "You're not just anyone. One day you're gonna have to make a choice. You have to decide what kind of man you want to grow up to be. Whoever that man is, good character or bad, it's going to change the world."In Australia the trailer was accompanied by Jor-El's voice over: "You will give the people an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun. In time you will help them accomplish wonders."
However, where the above descriptions are incorrect is that people in the United States are reportedly seeing both versions so it doesn't seem to be based on country. It's a random placement world wide. And it seems like most people prefer the Jor-El version to the Kent version.
In all likelihood, you can expect these trailers to come online next week.
Did you see these trailers in front of Dark Knight Rises? How did they play?
