'Prometheus' Viral Continues, Peter Weyland Gets Ready For TED Talk And What Is 10-11-12?
Usually when a film opens, its viral campaign is over. Not the case with Prometheus. Ridley Scott's latest film is one that encourages a lot of conversation (obviously) and, if you stay to the end of the credits, the conversation continues online. There a website called What Is 10-11-12? is revealed which features a video of Peter Weyland (Guy Pearce) preparing for his TED talk as well as an image of the book Thus Spake Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche. What does it all mean? We'll try to point you in the right direction after the jump.
One of the first sites to figure this out was AVP Galaxy, but Movies.com and others have since expanded on it. Here's the video.
Weyland's quote in the video is ""I am a law only for my kind, I am no law for all" and the cover of Thus Spake Zarathustra on the original site says "What is great in man is that he is a bridge and not the end." That's an idea that's pretty much all over Prometheus as [SPOILER ALERT] a majority of the film has to do with how the Engineers created humans and were then upset with the humans, possibly for crucifying Jesus Christ, so they wanted to destroy them all. There's also the birth of a xenomorph at the end which also can be seen as bridge species.
Back on planet viral video though, the more specific and answerable question is the same as the URL – What is 10.11.12? It likely means October 11, 2012 or November 10, 2012 depending on which country's date system is used. They're Thursday and Saturday's respectively, so while the obvious guess would be the Blu-ray release, neither of those are generally release dates. Exceptions have been made though so that's the best bet. What else could it be?
