Short Film: Nash Edgerton's 'Spider' And A Tease Of Its Sequel 'Bear'
Spider, the short film by Nash Edgerton, isn't exactly new. In fact, it's pretty old. The IMDB lists it as 2007 but we've never posted it here on /Film. So, on the off chance you haven't seen this fantastic short, now is the time.
Edgerton, the brother of accomplished actor Joel Edgerton, co-wrote, starred in and directed this short before making the feature film, The Square. (If you saw that film in theaters in the US, you might have seen the short playing before it.) Spider was so successful that it spawned a sequel, Bear, which recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Both films share over the top, dark humor and super impressive filmmaking. After the jump, watch Spider and get a tease from Bear.
Here's Spider. Below, I'll give a little tease about the sequel, Bear.
Pretty twisted, right?
Bear picks up, not right where Spider leaves off, but soon after. Jack (again played by Edgerton) has a new girl (Amanda Palmer) and he's ready to give her a new surprise. Involving a bear. Of course, things don't go exactly as planned and the results are probably as brutal, if not more so, than what happens in Spider. Here's a trailer for it:
What you can't tell from that trailer is that Jack's right eye is discolored, a direct result from the ending of Spider.
Not sure when, or if, Bear will make it online but hopefully soon. From the films above, it's pretty obvious that Edgerton is a very talented filmmaker and I can't wait to see more of his work.
