Three New 'Amazing Spider-Man' Banners Are The Anti-Teaser Poster
The Amazing Spider-Man teaser poster that released late last week was a real stunner: Eye-catching, intriguing with a creative, cool image that fans seemed to like. Unlike most other Spider-man images though, this one was dank, dark and decidedly un-web-slinger. In fact, it looked very similar to The Dark Knight Rises poster released the next day. Is that what audiences can expect when Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone hits theaters on July 3?
Probably not, especially once you look at three new banners that have been released for the film. They are much more in line with the red and blue Spider-Man everyone knows. Check them out after the jump.
According to Comic Book Movie, where these banners originated, these are for international marketing purposes.
From what we've heard, and seen, from the movie, Webb's Amazing Spider-Man is more along the lines of these banners than the poster. It's actually lighter than the Raimi's, with plenty of humor centered on the relationship between Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker. There's also a strong family dynamic with Gwen's father, played by Denis Leary and even some hints of that with Lizard, played by Rhys Ifans.
Sony has been keeping their Spider-Man marketing pretty minimal since Comic-Con in July, allowing other big summer 2012 superhero movies like The Dark Knight Rises and The Avengers to steal most of the buzz. But as the holiday films get released and a huge potential audience is in theaters, you're surely going to start seeing more. I'd venture a guess that a new trailer will be released fairly soon to go along with these posters and banners.
Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man will be released in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D theaters on July 3, 2012. Do you prefer the darker stuff or these more traditional banners?
