Adrianne Palicki Cast As 'Wonder Woman'
Friday Night Lights actress Adrianne Palicki has been cast as DC superhero Wonder Woman in the announced NBC television pilot. The show is said to be a non-campy take on the character that presents the superhero character as "a vigilante crime fighter in LA but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life." Palicki will also play Wonder Woman's two alter egos, a mega-billionaire CEO named Diana Themyscira and Diana's "plain Jane" assistant Diana Prince.
The pilot is executive-produced and written by David E. Kelley (Boston Legal, Ally McBeal). Bill D'Elia (Boston Legal) is also an executive producer. Jeffrey Reiner, who was a director and producer in the first couple seasons of Friday Night Lights and directed pilots for Trauma and The Event, as well as for Caprica at Syfy, will helm the pilot episode. McG was in talks to direct the pilot, but wasn't able to do so because of a conflict with a feature film.
According to TV Line, who broke the scoop, the series has yet to cast Justice Department lawyer Steve Trevor, Themyscira Industries' press secretary Mindy; and evil scientist Veronica Cale.
Palicki is 5 feet 11 inches tall, which I guess is considered tall for a non-model Hollywood actress. The modern day character is 6'3” while the older version was much shorter (5'²11” was "amazonian" height for a woman in the 1960's).
