First Look: 'Upside Down', A Sci-Fi Romance Starring Jim Sturgess And Kirsten Dunst
A man and a woman fall in love but are separated by two different dimensions. No, it's not only plot to The Lake House, it's also the plot to Upside Down, the topsy turvy sci-fi romance written and directed by Juan Diego Solanas, which stars Jim Sturgess and Kirsten Dunst. The pair were officially cast in the film way back in October of 2009 and over the summer, we posted a short set visit video. But now, thanks to a French website, we have a look at both some poster concept art as well as the star-crossed lovers on camera. Check them out and read more about this movie – which sounds about one million times cooler than The Lake House – after the break.
Thanks goes to iO9 for the heads up on the info and images from Into the Screen.
The original plot description of the film was as follows:
Look up towards the sky and rub your eyes because you won't believe what you see: cities, forests, and oceans with their own inverted gravity, only an arm's length away, yet completely unreachable. Take a leap over to this alternate reality, two worlds – one above, one below? facing each other, and you'll land in the extraordinary world of Upside Down.
Adam is a seemingly ordinary guy in a very extraordinary universe. He lives humbly trying to make ends meet, but his romantic spirit holds on to the memory of a girl he met once upon a time from another world, an inverted affluent world with its own gravity, directly above but beyond reach... a girl named Eve. Their childhood flirtation becomes an impossible love. But when he catches a glimpse of grown?up Eve on television, nothing will get in the way of getting her back... Not even the law or science!
But over on Into the Screen, we get a bit more translated information about character specifics and a possible release date:
Upside Down is a film produced by a French box, Studio 37, where the filming took place in Montreal, before the cameras of the Argentine director Juan Solanas. The cast is composed of international actors: Kirsten Dunst & Jim Sturgess. As for the story, she falls into a world where different worlds meet. Adam lives in one of these worlds, struggling within a civilization ravaged by war and haunted by memories of a young woman from another world, very close, so close, but denied entry. .. Filming is now complete, but we will have to wait a year post-production before discovering Upside Down on the big screen in 2012.
The iO9 article surmises American audiences might not see the film until 2012 as well, but with Sturgess and Dunst as the stars, chances are the film will be released in the States before they get it in France.
For even more information, here's the on set look from a few months back, thanks to Entertainment Tonight.
