First Look Clip: Mickey Rourke And Megan Fox In Passion Play
We should soon start hearing about Mitch Glazer's film Passion Play, which screened for the first time last night right before James Gunn's Super. Passion Play stars Mickey Rourke, Megan Fox and Bill Murray, and sounds like a messed-up carny-flavored romance. In the meantime, in the absence of a trailer, there's a clip online, and you can see it right here.
This clip, courtesy of Entertainment Tonight, shows the moment where Mickey Rourke sees Megan Fox for the first time. Or, at least, the moment where he really sees her for the first time, as she unfurls her wings. Yep. Wings.
Can't say that this clip does too much for me, but that's one of the possible problems with clips, even more than with trailers — out of context, it's really hard to say if this works for the film as a whole. Perhaps there are things we don't know about these characters that would make this clip play better within the film.
But I'm still quite curious about Passion Play, if only for the fact that it eventually sees Rourke's character in opposition to a crazy gangster played by Bill Murray. (A role originally held by Toby Kebbel, and as much as I love Kebbel — a lot — I'm even more happy to see Murray play it.)
Here's the rundown:
When a jazz trumpeter is taken to the desert and a gun held to his head, we are at the beginning of a delightful fable about romance and dreams. When he meets a beautiful woman who works as the Bird Woman in a circus, he falls madly in love and persuades her to run away with him only to find that life is a little more complicated than simply living one's fantasies.
