Cool Stuff: Olly Moss's Poster Remakes
21-year old UK artist Olly Moss is probably best known for his popular t-shirt designs which have virally spread across the interwebs. You might recognize some of his designs below.
Olly has decided to create a series of movie posters reinterpreted in a kinda minimalistic post modern German-ism style. Six more posters (The Dark Knight, Die Hard, Deer Hunter, Rain Man, The Great Dictator, and American History X) after the jump.
Die Hard
"The posters were made for fun. I love design and I love films so it was an
ideal personal project," Olly tells /Film. "In most cases I chose popular films with strong scenes or themes that would be immediately recognisable even when represented very simply."
The Dark Knight: "The silhouette in this poster was absolutely inspired by the intro to the 90s Batman animated series."
Charlie Chaplin's The Great Dictator: "I came up with the idea when I was playing around with an idea for a threadless tee based on disguises, and realised that if you used a comb as a mustache you could be mistaken for either Hitler or Chaplain. Then I remembered Chaplain had played a Hitler-like character in The Great Dictator and this reversible poster seemed like a pretty logical extension of the image. "
American History X
Deer Hunter
Rain Man
Olly Moss has just graduated from University and is currently looking for a full-time design job. "It would actually be great if you could mention this. I might get an offer!" Olly half-joking writes. You can find more of Olly's work on Ollymoss.com. Thanks to GramHart for help on this story and to /Film reader Max C for the tip.
