VisionQuest Trailer: Marvel's New Show Is Somehow A WandaVision And Age Of Ultron Sequel
With just a couple of weeks left before "VisionQuest" arrives on Disney+, Marvel Studios has dropped a brand new trailer for the upcoming series. This time around the focus is on the relationship between Vision (Paul Bettany) and his son Tommy (Ruaridh Mollica), who was magicked into existence by the late Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) during the events of "WandaVision."
The trailer pitches "VisionQuest" as "the final vision of the groundbreaking trilogy." The trilogy began with "WandaVision" and continued with "Agatha All Along," in which Vision and Wanda's other son Billy (Joe Locke) uncovered his true identity and began to explore his own magical powers. Though the Maximoff boys were seemingly erased from existence at the end of "WandaVision," "Agatha All Along" revealed that their consciousnesses had escaped at the last moment. They were transferred into the bodies of two teenage boys who had just died, filling the space left behind by the recently-vacated souls and bringing the bodies back to life.
"Agatha All Along" ended with a tease of Tommy's return, and "VisionQuest" will deliver on that promise. But this trailer suggests the show is just as much a sequel to 2015's "Avengers: Age of Ultron," where Bettany's character made his debut.
Vision has some serious daddy issues in VisionQuest
Haunting the narrative in "VisionQuest" — and, as he gleefully proclaims, taking up "rent-free" space in Vision's mind palace — is Ultron (James Spader), the villainous artificial intelligence from "Avengers: Age of Ultron." After going rogue in that movie, Ultron had a new body built for himself that was made of Vibranium and powered by an Infinity Stone. Before he could move in, however, those pesky Avengers absconded with the robot body and awoke a new personality inside it: Vision, who ultimately killed his "father," Ultron.
After Vision was killed by Thanos in "Avengers: Infinity War," two new Visions were created in "WandaVision": a robot cobbled together from the parts of the old Vision, and a magically resurrected Vision forced into existence by a grieving Wanda Maximoff. The Vision in "VisionQuest" is the body of the former imbued with the memories of the latter. Needless to say, he's got some identity struggles to work through.
Between the previous trailer for "VisionQuest" and this new one, the show looks set to be a capstone for Vision's character arc. He'll have to hash out his daddy issues with Ultron while also trying to be a better father to his own, newly-rediscovered, magically-spawned son. There might not be enough family therapy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to handle all of this.
"VisionQuest" debuts October 14, 2026, on Disney+.
