How To Watch John Wick: Chapter 4 At Home
John Wick just wanted to retire and live a happy, peaceful life with his Beagle puppy, but instead he's been kicking butts and taking names for nearly a decade since "John Wick" premiered in theaters in 2014. Directed by stuntman Chad Stahelski, the franchise follows Keanu Reeves as John Wick, who is one of the most amazing assassins to have ever lived. In "John Wick: Chapter 4," John must face off against the High Table, who control the worldwide cabal of assassins, and hopefully earn his freedom from a life of murder for money once and for all. (You can read our review here!) The latest film, directed by Stahelski and written by Shay Hatten and Michael Finch, stars Reeves along with franchise favorites Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane, and the late Lance Reddick, along with newcomers Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgård, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, Rina Sawayama, and Scott Adkins. What's more, it's headed our way on digital and physical home video pretty soon!
"John Wick: Chapter 4" is now officially slate to hit Digital on May 23, 2023, with a 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack (plus Blu-ray and Digital), Blu-ray Combo Pack (plus DVD and Digital), DVD & On Demand available on June 13, 2023, along with all kinds of neat special features.
John Wick: Chapter 4 home release details
If you didn't get a chance to check out "John Wick: Chapter 4" in theaters and just can't wait until June to finally see it, the good news is that it will hit Digital on May 23, 2023, meaning you can rent it from wherever digital rentals are sold. The latest film in the "John Wick" franchise upped the ante once more, introducing a new villain played by "It" franchise star (and Pennywise himself!) Bill Skarsgård who wields bureaucracy like a weapon, which isn't exactly how Wick deals with his problems. It also features the final "Wick" outing by the late Lance Reddick, who played Charon, the man in charge of the Continental — the hotel where international assassins seal their deals, trade secrets, and maybe take a nap.
"John Wick: Chapter 4" was designed to be a satisfying ending to the story of Wick himself, but that doesn't mean the franchise is completely over. There's also a streaming series in the works and the "Ballerina" spin-off film starring Ana de Armas as a ballet dancer who wants to get vengeance. Honestly, the world-building in this franchise is so good, they could keep making stories in it forever, Wick or no Wick.
All of the special features
There are loads of special features on the home video versions of the film, including the 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD releases. They include a retrospective on Chad Stahelski and Keanu Reeves ("Chad and Keanu: Through Wick and Thin"), a martial arts feature with weapons master Robert Galotti ("Train Like a Killer"), a look into the production design ("Making a Killing"), a deep dive into Wick's personal psychology and code of ethics ("The Psychology of a Killer"), a featurette all about Donnie Yen and his blind swordsman character ("The Blind Leading the Fight"), a look at all of the suits with costume designer Paco Delgado ("Suit Up/Shoot Up"), and a behind-the-scenes look at the special effects ("Packing a Punch"). There's also "One Killer Shot," which breaks down the single-take shot that blew everyone's mind with fight choreographers Jeremy Marinas and Laurent Demianoff, as well as stunt coordinator Scott Rogers; "Killing at the Speed of Traffic," a breakdown of the car fight at the Arc de Triomphe; and "A Shot in the Dark," which dives into the night scenes and night shoots from the film.
Lastly, there's "In Honor of the Dead," which honors all of the references Stahelski drew on for the franchise, "from David Lean to John Woo, to the samurai epics of post-war Japan." You can catch all of these, theatrical trailers, and the movie itself when "John Wick: Chapter 4" releases on home video on June 13, 2023.
