Will Letterkenny Spin-Off Shoresy Get A Season 2 At Hulu
Hoping, wishing, and praying that Hulu is going to deliver a second season of the "Letterkenny" spin-off, "Shoresy?" GOOD, CAUSE YOU'RE GOIN! As was just announced today by the streaming platform, Shoresy, Sanguinet, Nat, JJ Frankie JJ, The Jims, and all the rest of the Sudbury crew are coming back for another six episodes. The character of Shoresy was first introduced as the faceless, foul-mouthed, chirping nemesis of hockey players Reilly and Jonesy, typically seen leaving king cobra coils in the locker room bathroom while bragging about boning their moms.
When the spin-off series was first announced, fans were excited for more stories in the "Letterkenny" world but were perplexed trying to imagine what a "Shoresy" show would even look like. After all, he's the most insufferable character in all of Letterkenny, and since he's played by Jared Keeso, who also stars as Wayne, how would they differentiate between the two characters once we actually saw Shoresy's face?
As it turns out, a missing tooth and a lack of squinting go a long way, because Shoresy felt completely unique to Wayne, and the first season of "Shoresy" is shockingly one of the best portrayals of masculine camaraderie in years. The series might as well be a spiritual successor to the beloved 1977 film "Slap Shot," where Shoresy joins the embattled Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs hockey team in their quest to never lose a game again. This team is going to get bums in seats, defy the odds, save the organization from being shut down ... and eat plenty of victory sticks in the process.
Line up the martoonies, boys
Hulu has yet to announce an anticipated release date for the second season of "Shoresy," but it's likely that the show will return similar to the first season and "Letterkenny," with all six episodes available at once for maximum, bingeable enjoyment. When we last saw the Blueberry Bulldogs, they had lost to the Cyclones on the scoreboard, but not in their hearts. The team isn't folding, the boys got their victory sticks, and they headed out to run in the snow as a team because the playoffs are coming up fast. "Shoresy" may not have as rapid-fire zingers as "Letterkenny," but its focus on character development allowed the series to stand on its own, and deliver an inspirational underdog sports story for the ages.
Jared Keeso returns as Shoresy, as will Tasya Teles ("The 100") as Nat; Harlan Blayne Kytwayhat ("Prey") as Sanguinet; Blair Lamora ("Paranormal Nightshift") as Ziigwan; and Keilani Rose ("All Joking Aside") as Miigwan. Jonathan-Ismael Diaby, Terry Ryan, Ryan McDonell, Max Bouffard, Andrew "The Canon Antsanen, Keegan Long, and Bourke Cazabon are also returning. And of course, Jon "Nasty" Mirasty, former 'Canes center Brandon Nolan, and three-time Stanley Cup winner, Jordan Nolan will once again star as Jim, Jim, and Jim, respectively.
