Here's When You Can Watch Black Panther: Wakanda Forever At Home

2022 featured one of the most epic-sized stories detailing how an aquatic-dwelling culture of blue-skinned Indigenous people comes into direct conflict with a whole host of technologically advanced land-lubbers who underestimate their enemy at every turn. The climactic battle between two opposing armies takes place in the middle of the ocean. There's even a strong recurring theme about family, grief, and environmentalism. No, as you hopefully have guessed by now, James Cameron wasn't the first filmmaker to bring his obsession with all things water-related to the big screen last year.

Marvel beat "Avatar: The Way of Water" to the punch when the superhero studio debuted "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" in November of 2022. Originally intended to follow Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa as he grappled with the reality of being an absentee father in the aftermath of Thanos' "Blip," the newly-reconfigured version that made it to theaters after the leading man's passing instead put Letitia Wright's Shuri front and center, pitted against perhaps the most fearsome foe (and charismatic charmer) that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has ever seen in Tenoch Huerta's Namor.

Unsurprisingly, audiences flocked to the sequel to the 2018 box office-breaking smash hit, coming together to celebrate the late Boseman's legacy in the same way that director Ryan Coogler, co-writer Joe Robert Cole, and the entire cast did in forging ahead and bringing the film to the finish line. But now that the past year is over and done with and the new one has begun, fans will have another chance to watch "Wakanda Forever" from the comfort of their own homes. For those who might have missed the event film in theaters (or just want to ogle over Huerta's shirtless Namor even more), then this is the article for you.

How to watch Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at home

To say that fans have been waiting anxiously for when "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" would be made available on Disney+ streaming is probably a bit of an understatement. After becoming an instant success from the moment it hit theaters and setting some fascinating records along the way, the "Black Panther" follow-up has been all but certain to translate such attention and interest to a favorable streaming outcome as well. That journey will officially begin when Marvel finally makes the Ryan Coogler-directed movie available to stream on Disney+ ... though slightly later than some may have expected.

According to the main streaming page for the film provided by Disney (via Comic Book), "Wakanda Forever" will officially hit the streaming service on February 1, 2023. That comes a few weeks later than the mid-January target fans may have circled in their calendars, but it stands to reason that Marvel would attempt to take full advantage of the sequel's theatrical release. Having previously abided by a minimum 45-day window before adding traditional offerings to Disney+ streaming, the studio has pushed the envelope a bit with "Wakanda Forever." A streaming debut of February 1 would put this film at almost twice that window — a sizable 82 days.

Something tells us this will do nothing to dampen the excitement, however; just the opposite, in fact. While "Avatar: The Way of Water" continues to roll through the relatively quiet holiday season with absolutely nothing in its way, it might just make the most amount of sense to carve out some breathing room for that other water-based sci-fi adventure that captured hearts and minds a few weeks prior. Luckily, fans won't have to wait too much longer until "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" comes to Disney+ streaming.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD

"Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" will also be arriving on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD shortly after it hits streaming. After the movie becomes available to purchase digitally on the same day it hits Disney+, the film will arrive on physical media on February 7.
