How To Watch Billy Eichner's Bros At Home

One of the most acclaimed studio comedies in recent memory will soon be available from the comfort of your couch, in your preferred method of consumption. The movie in question is "Bros," the gay romcom starring Billy Eichner and directed by Nicholas Stoller, of "Neighbors" fame, not to mention that it was produced by Judd Apatow. The point is, this movie has a great pedigree of talent, with our own Sarah Milner giving it a glowing review out of TIFF. Now, for those who may have missed it in theaters, the time has come to watch it at home.

But the question becomes, what's the best way to watch "Bros" at home? Is it going to be available on a major streaming service? Is it available through digital retailers? And what about a Blu-ray release for lovers of physical media out there? We've got all of the information you need right here but, the short answer is that the movie is available in just about every medium. The choice is yours. Let's go over those choices.

Bros arrives on Peacock in December

First and foremost, the streaming option may be the easiest for most people. Universal Pictures has announced that "Bros" will be arriving on Peacock on December 2, 2022. Peacock will serve as the movie's exclusive streaming home, so for those who wish to go the streaming service route, this is the place to do it. The important thing here is that you will need to be subscribed to the premium version of the service to watch it, as the free, ad-supported version isn't going to cut it.

Billy Eichner, of "Billy on the Street" fame, leads the cast and is the first openly gay man to co-write and star in his own major studio film. It also features an entirely LGBTQ+ principal cast, including Luke Macfarlane ("Killjoys"), Ts Madison ("The Ts Madison Experience"), Monica Raymund ("Chicago Fire"), Guillermo Díaz ("Scandal"), Guy Branum ("The Other Two"), and Amanda Bearse ("Married ...with Children"). Nicholas Stoller directed from the screenplay he co-wrote with Eichner. Judd Apatow, Stoller, and Joshua Church are on board as producers, with Eichner also serving as an executive producer.

You can also grab Bros on Digital

For those who aren't particularly interested in subscribing to Peacock — or for those who are just feeling a little impatient — there are plenty of options that can be exercised right now. Universal released "Bros" on virtually every major digital retailer back in October after the movie's admittedly disappointing performance at the box office. That being the case, you can purchase it through Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, Apple TV, Google Play, or your preferred vendor of digital movies.

While prices can vary in some cases, the movie currently goes for $19.99 on Digital. That price will come down at some point, and the rental price will also go down over time. Regardless of the precise cost, for some people, the one-time cost is preferable to signing up for another streaming service. So for those who don't already have Peacock, this could be a desirable way to go.

Bros is on Blu-ray and DVD as well

Lastly, lovers of physical media are in luck as well. "Bros" has also been given a Blu-ray and DVD release from Universal Pictures. While that may sound obvious on the surface, certain movies aren't getting physical releases at all these days. That being the case, it's no longer a given. But for those who would prefer to put a copy of this film on their shelf, the disc is currently available for purchase through most major retailers. The only downside is, as of right now, it is not available on 4K Ultra HD. On the plus side, it does come loaded down with bonus features, and we've got a breakdown of those features below:

  • Deleted Scenes — Alt First Date, Nipple Plumpers, Calling Peter, Paul, and Marty, Pride Fight, Steroid Workout, Bro Workout, and Senior Center.
  • Representation Matters — Representation matters, especially in a genre such as romantic comedies which has traditionally been a space for heteronormative on-screen couples. We sit down with our cast and key crew members and ask them to tell us why they think this movie is important, why it's important to be making it now, what it means to them personally to see representation in this genre, and what scenes or moments from the film spoke to them.
  • From Start to Finish — Get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the entire process of bringing "Bros" to life.
  • Introducing Bobby and Aaron – Director Nick Stoller and actors Billy Eichner and Luke Macfarlane introduce us to their characters, the process of playing them, and discuss their on-screen chemistry.
  • The Cast and the Cameos — This film features an incredible ensemble cast, especially those making up the museum board. Through sit-down interviews and informal stand-ups, we hear how they came to be a part of the project, their thoughts when they first read the script, their characters, their favorite scenes, and what the process of filming was like.
  • The Art of the Rom-Com with Billy and Nick — What makes a good rom-com? Using sit-down interview footage with co-writers Billy and Nick (separately), we dive into what they think makes a good romantic comedy and all the ways in which they stuck to, or subverted classic rom-com tropes for "Bros."
  • The "Bros" National LGBTQIA+ History Museum – We learn about where the idea to incorporate the first LGBTQ+ History Museum into the script came from, why Billy and Nick landed on certain exhibits, and how it all came together under the helm of the amazing Production Designer and her team.
  • The Making of a Deleted Scene
  • Pride Fight: The Making Of — We do a deep dive into this deleted scene, how it was made and why it ultimately ended up on the cutting room floor.
  • Working Out: The Making Of — We talk to Nick and Billy about the workout scenes, the inspiration for them, what it was like to make the scenes, and again, the reasons why they didn't make it into the final cut of the movie.
  • Gag Reel
