Zack Snyder Believes More Superman Is Needed Before 'Justice League,' Plus Major Easter Egg Spoilers
Man of Steel has begun screening for press across the globe and, with it, spoilers and speculation regarding the continuation of the DC Universe abound. If you are as excited as we are for Zack Snyder's Superman reboot, opening June 14, this is probably an article to bookmark and refer back to after you've seen it. But if you are simply dying to know how this movie sets a foundation for a possible DC Cinematic Universe, read on. We'll tread lightly on spoilers and warn you at every turn.
The rumor circulating over the past few months is Snyder himself is in contention to helm a potential Justice League movie. However, in a brand new interview, he suggested that wouldn't be right without some more Superman in between. He also flat out revealed one of the film's major easter eggs, which may or may not be related. Read his quotes, along with a little context below.
We're going to work our way down from least spoilerish to most spoilerish. But if you want to go into Man of Steel 100% clean, this can all be considered spoilers.
First up, Superhero Hype talked to Man of Steel composer Hans Zimmer who said the following, suggesting he'll be working with Snyder again in the future:
I just had a conversation recently with Zack where I was trying to look at my life in the future. He was going, 'Well, we want to go and do this and we want to go and [do this]'. I was thinking, 'Oh my god. Here we go again.'
Is he referring to more DC Comics movies? It's possible.
Next up, at the Man of Steel press conference we attended, Snyder was asked about General Zod being the film's main villain instead of the traditional choice: Lex Luthor. He tied that into an earlier reveal that kryptonite is not used in the film:
Someone asked me, 'There's no Kryptonite and no Lex Luthor?' I said, 'Well, okay. Within the parameters of this story, there's no Kryptonite or Lex Luthor, but that's not to say that they don't exist in the world. That's an entirely different question.'
That "different question" is alluded to in another quote Snyder gave, speaking to Collider. He was asked whether or not he'd prefer to do a Justice League movie first, or a second Superman movie:
Look ... completely hypothetically, I feel like you need to get Superman a little further down the road, I think, before you can do a Justice League movie.
What exactly does that mean? Well without giving anything major away, making a Justice League movie immediately after Man of Steel would be like making The Avengers after Tony Stark leaves the cave.
Next up, Snyder was asked by Omelete (via Collider) about possible Easter Eggs and flat out revealed a huge one. MAJOR SPOILERS FOLLOW.

Snyder revealed that, when Zod destroys a satellite in the film, it has the Wayne Enterprises logo on it. He also confirmed the rumor of LexCorp logos in the movie. Does this point to what happens next? "Everything is interesting at this point," Snyder said. "And don't forget that Lex is out there, doing who knows what..."
We'll have much more on this as Man of Steel gets closer to release, along with some of our own coverage.
