'Vice' Trailer: Bruce Willis Pisses Off A Robot
Bruce Willis still makes good movies, but he tends to make a whole lot of forgettable dreck between them. It's too early to determine which side of that line Vice, his latest movie, falls on, but if we had to guess... well, let's just say this seems to have more in common with The Prince and Fire With Fire than Moonrise Kingdom or Looper.Vice stars Willis as the owner of a futuristic resort in which customers use androids to play out their darkest, most decadent fantasies. But when one of those androids, played by Ambyr Childers, gets wise to what's going on, she breaks out and tries to strike back. Thomas Jane also stars, as a cop involved in the struggle. Check out the Vice trailer after the jump.Vice doesn't really look that bad, but it doesn't look that good, either. Mostly, it just looks derivative. Among other things, that premise seems reminiscent of Westworld, which already has a remake on the way from HBO. If androids with angst are your thing, Vice seems like a harmless variation on a familiar formula; if not, it's hard to see from this trailer why you should bother.Vice opens January 16 in theaters and on iTunes. Neither the release date nor the release model seem like a big vote of confidence, but eh, who knows.
Julian Michaels (Bruce Willis) has designed the ultimate resort: VICE, where anything goes and the customers can play out their wildest fantasies with artificial inhabitants who look, think and feel like humans. When an artificial (Ambyr Childers) becomes self-aware and escapes, she finds herself caught in the crossfire between Julian's mercenaries and a cop (Thomas Jane) who is hell-bent on shutting down Vice, and stopping the violence once and for all.
