'Transformers: The Last Knight' Clip: Mark Wahlberg Learns About Robot Dementia
This summer brings the next installment of the Transformers franchise, which might finally be the last time that Michael Bay gets behind the camera to roll out the Autobots on the big screen (unless a spin-off down the road tickles his fancy). That means the director isn't pulling any punches, as if he did before, and a new clip from Transformers: The Last Knight gives us an introduction to two new characters, one human and one Aubobot, as they meet Mark Wahlberg and Bumblebee for the first time.
In addition to the new clip from the film, you can check out a new poster for the sequel. But we don't recommend checking out a goofy clip that shows Optimus Prime trying to learn a British accent from a dialect coach for no good reason at all.

The audio is a bit funky because of how the uploaded used their computer to rip it from the live broadcast from the MTV Movie & TV Awards, but you can still hear what's going on quite well, and the video quality is just fine. In the clip, an old World War II tank Transformer tries to shoot at Cade Yaeger (Wahlberg) and Bumblebee before being told to stand down by Hopkins, who claims this tank has "robot dementia."
We also get to meet a robot butler that Hopkins has helping him, just before Hot Rod zooms in, throwing Laura Haddock out of his body before he transformers into his robot form. The clips puts in motion the previously release still that we saw with Haddock looking rather freaked out by meeting one of the Autobots for the first time.
Now if you're in the mood for rolling your eyes and wondering why something like this exists, check out this attempt at humor by having the digital model of Optimus Prime struggle with learning a British accent from an increasingly impatient dialect coach. Personally, I never thought I'd see Optimus Prime threaten an old woman, but here we are. Watch the clip if you dare:
Finally, here's a new poster featuring Bumblee squaring off with Optimus Prime:

When all seems lost, a few brave souls can save everything we've ever known. The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock). There comes a moment in everyone's life when we are called upon to make a difference. In Transformers: The Last Knight, the hunted will become heroes. Heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours.
Transformers: The Last Knight opens on June 23, 2017.
