'The Hangover Part II' Trailer

Audiences all over cheered the awesome teaser trailer that Warner Brothers released for their summer blockbuster The Hangover Part II. It announced that "The Wolfpack is back." Now they're really back with a full theatrical trailer. Check it out after the jump.

Okay, so here are my thoughts. My first impression was that I'm surprised Phillips and company went with the exact same gimmick – losing a member of your party and forgetting an entire night. Sure it's a different person and different country but doesn't that feel a tad bit forced? Then you watch the rest of the trailer and you kind of don't care. You missed these characters and are filled with a morbid curiosity as to what they did this time. How could they have fallen for the same trick again?

Next I realized this is a rare comedy trailer that doesn't blow the entire movie. Sure there are a few chuckles, a few blown jokes and a lot of shots that make you scratch your head – not to mention blowing the entire set-up for the movie – but, for the most part, after two and a half minutes you don't know exactly how it's all going to wind up.

Which leads me to my final conclusion after watching the theatrical trailer for The Hangover Part II. I'm extremely skeptical. The first movie, as funny and revered as it was, relied on the fact that it was an original story with characters who we were unfamilar with. They could have done anything. This time we know the situation, we know the players, and even though this trailer does show a lot of promise, it also doesn't quite sell me 100%.
