'Suicide Squad' Trailer Mash-Up Lets 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' Feel The Power Of Queen
Even though Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is just over a month away, I'm still far more interested in seeing what Suicide Squad brings to the table. While the trailer for the super villain team-up flick felt a little odd in the beginning, with the ballad portion of Queen's signature track "Bohemian Rhapsody" playing throughout, the hard rock switch really brought the right energy to the movie, and I'm intrigued to see what director David Ayer can do with the DC Comics property.
Now one YouTuber has decided to bring Queen's rock tune to the Marvel side of comic book movies by using it to create a new trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy, and it's pretty cool. Watch it below.
Here's the Suicide Squad trailer mash-up with Guardians of the Galaxy (via Games Radar):
The song easily feels right at home with the rest of the movie's soundtrack comprised of classic rock tunes, and while this Suicide Squad trailer mash-up for the ragtag team of space criminals is cool, in my opinion, it still suffers from the awkward first half as the original trailer.
James Gunn recently called out Hollywood for likely learning the wrong lessons from any given film's box office success after Deadpool topped the box office. He recalled how Hollywood reacted to the success of Guardians of the Galaxy, hearing about "a hundred film projects being set up 'like Guardians,'" along with "dozens of trailers exactly like the Guardians trailer with a big pop song and a bunch of quips."
Gunn doesn't seem to be calling out Suicide Squad, but the tone of Guardians of the Galaxy is certainly there, and Warner Bros. is undoubtedly hoping to capture the same kind of success with this much different comic book flick. We'll find out if it can match-up with Marvel's success on August 5.
