'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Japanese Trailer Is Packed With New Footage [UPDATED With New Posters]

That last Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer was supposed to be, well, the last Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer. And it was — in the U.S. Japan, however, got a different version of the trailer today. We're not just talking a recut version of the same ones we've already seen. This one has some very interesting new footage. Watch the Star Wars The Force Awakens international trailer after the jump.

Director J.J. Abrams had promised that Force Awakens trailer from last month would be it, but apparently he didn't count on international marketing. While the Japanese trailer isn't wall-to-wall new footage, there's a lot of new stuff to see here. Like Rey encountering Kylo Ren, or meeting Finn for the first time. And there's new dialogue to go with those scenes as well. Like Rey's mention of her family, which is bound to get those "is Rey a Skywalker" debates going all over again. Or Maz Kanata's declaration that "hope is not lost today. It is found." And BB-8 gets to speak up.

Still no Luke, though. And still no indication of why everyone seems to have suddenly befallen a weird disease that forces them to cover up their right eyes.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens December 18 in the U.S. and Japan. Daisy Ridley stars as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux, Lupita Nyong'o as Maz Kanata, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, and Max Von Sydow. Returning from the original trilogy are Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, and Kenny Baker as R2-D2.UPDATE: And here are the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens posters, as promised. And the Korean poster. It reuses a lot of the same art from the last one, but it puts Kylo Ren front and center instead of Rey.
