Interestingly, these Stormtroopers seem to feature the Imperial design from the original trilogy, not the First Order design from The Force Awakens. This is a promotional image and not a still, so we could just chalk it up to the magazine playing around with the look of the franchise. Or does it hint at some more significant connection between the Empire and the First Order?
The other Star Wars The Force Awakens Empire cover — presumably featuring the film's heroes — will be revealed in the next few days. The issue hits newsstands August 27 in the U.K. Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens December 18, 2015.
