Star Wars Bits: Jason Flemyng's Script Page, Matt Smith, Video Games, And Audition News
Every week there's usually one major Star Wars story, but that doesn't stop the smaller stuff from happening. That's where Star Wars Bits comes in, and after the jump, you can read about the following:
Variety has an article talking with Electronic Arts executives about their ten year deal to make Star Wars games. The first one, Star Wars: Battlefront, will be out in 2015 around the same time as Star Wars Episode VII, and the fact the two are unrelated is the point. EA will not be making games that specifically tie into the new movies, instead focusing on "the world that's been created around 'Star Wars.'" Read more at that link.
The quotes in the below caption suggest otherwise, but it's worth pointing out actor Jason Flemyng (best known for his work in Guy Ritchie and Matthew Vaughn films) posted this image to Instagram. Best case, the script page is for a Star Wars Episode VII audition, but not from the film itself. What do you think?
UPDATE : Flemyng deleted the image, but here's a screencap.
While Flemyng may or may not be up for the film, Bleeding Cool is reporting Matt Smith, the most recent Doctor Who, auditioned for a role in Episode VII. Fans would probably go nuts if that happened.
Open auditions for the younger roles in Star Wars Episode VII are still going strong. An audition outside of Detroit drew about 2000 people, with casting directors asking each person one or two quick questions before sending them on their way (read more at the Detroit News). Then the response was so huge overseas, the Glasgow open auditions were postponed to find a new, bigger, venue.
For a few weeks now actor David Oyelowo, from Lee Daniels' The Butler and Rise of the Planet of the Apes, has been rumored to be up for Star Wars Episode VII or Star Wars: Rebels. That means everywhere he goes, he's being bombarded by questions with no real answers. E! Online has a collection of quotes from the actor, with this one being the best.
Everyone is asking me about Star Wars, The breaking news is J.J. Abrams is going to give you that breaking news....I'd go anywhere to work with J.J. Abrams. I think what he did with Star Trek was so extraordinary...And I think what he'll do with Star Wars will be just as impressive.
Finally, here's an extremely cool Episode VII-esque fan film from director Todd Sandler. It's called Star Wars: The Apprentice.
