A new location in Ireland is being scouted for Star Wars: Episode VIII. As you know, the new trilogy has shot in Skellig Michael for the island where Luke Skywalker has been exiled. The new location reportedly being counted is Co. Donegal. Blabbathehutt has some photos of the location, and speculation is that it will be used as another part of the Arch-To island where Rey finds Luke at the end of The Force Awakens.
The above video from Digital Nomads shows Dubrovnik, Croatia being transformed for the Star Wars: Episode VIII shoot. A ton of photos of the filming have leaked online, you can check out some on TMZ, Dulist, MakingStarWars. Unfourtunately we can not post these photos here, so click the link if you want to check them out yourself.
Theres a lot off photos of some of the costumed practical alien creatures filming for this shoot. The video below features a stunt person flying through the air, probably propelled by some kind of CG creature or effect. Warwick Davis was spotted on set, as he will play some role in the filming.
Among the scenes filmed included a "senatorial procession" and a scene with Finn riding a 10-foot alien equine animal described as a combination of a Earth horse, an Empire Strikes Back Tauntaun and that of a Phantom Menace Kaadu (The Phantom Menace).
A new rumor has emerged that Billy Dee Williams, who played Lando Calrissian in the original trilogu, may be part of the Dubrovnik shoot. And some fans have pointed out that Dubrovnik may be standing in for Han Solo's home world of Corellia. Of course, this is all rumor for now as no one has spotted the actor on set. An earlier report claimed that a souvenir shop in Dubrovnik was being used as "a stand-in for Maz Kanata's new Castle and/or Cantina." Some interesting theories, but as with Episode VII, it may just end up as fan speculation.
