Lydia Wilson Boards 'Star Trek Beyond'
Justin Lin's got an entire universe of characters to populate in Star Trek Beyond, so no surprise he's still casting as cameras continue to roll. His latest find is Lydia Wilson, a British TV, film, and stage actress best known for playing Domhnall Gleeson's kid sister in About Time. Read about the Star Trek Beyond Lydia Wilson casting after the jump. Star Trek Beyond brings back the rebooted franchise's core cast, including Chris Pine (Kirk), Zachary Quinto (Spock), Zoe Saldana (Uhura), John Cho (Sulu), Karl Urban (Bones), Anton Yelchin (Chekov), and Simon Pegg (Scotty). New cast members include Idris Elba as an "interesting" and "complex" villain who's nothing like Benedict Cumberbatch's Khan from Star Trek Into Darkness, according to Pegg, plus Sofia Boutella and Joe Taslim.
Details on Wilson's role, like details on all the new roles, are being kept under tight wraps. For that matter, no one's saying much about the overall plot of the movie either, other than that it'll see the crew of the Enterprise on its five-year mission. Lin has indicated Star Trek Beyond will feature an original tale, not an adaptation of a previous storyline, and has teased "whole new worlds and species."
Besides her lovable troublemaker role in About Time, Wilson's notable credits include Mark Romanek's Never Let Me Go, the PBS movie The Making of a Lady, the first episode of Black Mirror (she played Princess Susannah), and guest spots in Ripper Street and Misfits. She was also recently seen in the British stage productions King Charles III and Hysteria.
Star Trek Beyond is shooting now in Vancouver for release on July 8, 2016. J.J. Abrams, who helmed the last two installments, is producing this one along with Bryan Burke and Skydance's David Ellison and Dana Goldberg. Pegg and Doug Jung wrote the script.
