Spoilers: Joseph Gordon-Levitt Talks 'The Dark Knight Rises' Ending And Possible Series Future
Before the release of The Dark Knight Rises, every member of the cast was incredibly guarded when it came to discussing plot points. Now that the film is out and part of the public conscious, one would think all of what happens would be open for discussion, especially since most of it is pretty cut and dry. That's not necessarily the case for John Blake, the character played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who has remained pretty silent in regards to the film's ending. However, on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the star of Looper not only talked about the ending, he talked about the future of the franchise. If you know what I mean. These are the biggest possible spoilers for The Dark Knight Rises, so we'll keep them after the jump.
Thanks to Comic Book Movie for pointing out this clip, which I also ran in Superhero Bits earlier today. SPOILERS below.
I was very happy to see Kimmel ask Gordon-Levitt these questions straight up, but I can't say I'm too surprised with his answers. I prefer to think his reading of the ending, the ultimate visualization of the symbolic, heroic nature of Batman, is truly an ending and not a new beginning. And while he's obviously not the one to decide that, or if he'll reprise his role, he must have talked to some executives or at the very least Nolan about it. Do you believe that to be the case? And if so, was he given information or is he being coy about the role?
No matter what, the moment he kind of geeks out about the whole thing looks like the weight of the world lifts off his shoulders and I'm glad to see it. He's one of the best things in the movie.
