When Will We See The First 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Trailer?
Tom Holland's Spider-Man is the third big-screen iteration of the character in just 15 years, but any skepticism fans may have had seemed to disappear the moment he swung onscreen in Captain America: Civil War. At that point, the question went from "do we really need another Spider-Man reboot?" to "so when will we get to see that Spider-Man reboot?"
Marvel being Marvel, of course, they already had plans in place to open Spider-Man: Homecoming in summer 2017. But that's still months away. Fortunately, the wait to see the first footage from the film is much shorter. Find out when we can expect the Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer premiere below.
According to sources who spoke with ComicBook.com, the first Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer will come attached to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Rogue One opens Friday, December 16, which means the Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer will likely hit the web in the week leading up to that. Keep in mind Sony hasn't officially confirmed the timing, so until they do you might want to take this info with a grain of salt.
That said, it sounds extremely plausible. Rogue One is a Disney release, and Disney (i.e., Marvel) is teaming with Sony for Spider-Man: Homecoming. Not to mention, Rogue One opens about seven months before Spider-Man: Homecoming, which means the time is about right for Sony and Marvel to start their big marketing push for the movie.
Of course, Marvel fans who were in Hall H this summer will already have seen a few minutes of footage from Spider-Man: Homecoming. The overall vibe was very John Hughes-y, just as the filmmakers have been promising — it felt much more like a teen comedy than like a typical superhero movie, in a very funny and charming way. You can get the full detailed rundown here.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is directed by Jon Watts and stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr., Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, and Laura Harrier. It opens July 7, 2017.
