Release Dates: 'Man Of Steel' Delayed; 'Dredd' Dated
Briefly: Insert 'faster than a speeding bullet' joke here: Zack Snyder's new Superman film, Man of Steel, will now arrive on June 14, 2013 rather than in December 2012. What's the reason for the delay? As has been the case with questions about the script for Man of Steel, we don't have reliable answers. We'll take the date for now, along with the recent word that 300 writer Kurt Johnstad is doing rewrite duties on David Goyer's script, with Jonathan Nolan having done a pass as well. [MTV]
On the darker side of the comic adaptation news cycle, Lionsgate has given a release date to the new Judge Dredd film, Dredd. That will now hit on September 21, 2012. That lands right between the company's other releases in that time frame, The Expendables 2 on August 17 and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D on October 5. Pete Travis directed Dredd with Karl Urban, Olivia Thirlby and Lena Headey starring in the adaptation of the stories of a violent and almost all-powerful peacekeeping force in the post-apocalyptic sprawl of Mega-City 1.
