'Paul' Featurette Offers New Footage
Just in time to combine forces with the trailer released yesterday, there is a minor new featurette on Paul, the Greg Mottola film that was written by and stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as a couple of road-trippin' geeks who encounter a real-live alien, voiced by Seth Rogen.
There's not a lot of new stuff here, but there is some minor info about Kristen Wiig's character, and a bit of explanation of what Paul has been doing during his time on Earth. I liked the footage we saw at Comic Con last year, and have been slowly warming up to the film a little more. I liked yesterday's trailer a good bit, and this featurette helps fill in some of the story gaps while not giving away anything too spoilery.
The official plot synopsis:
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost reunite for the comedy adventure Paul as two sci-fi geeks whose pilgrimage takes them to America's UFO heartland. While there, they accidentally meet an alien who brings them on an insane road trip that alters their universe forever. For the past 60 years, an alien named Paul (voiced by Seth Rogen) has been hanging out at a top-secret military base. For reasons unknown, the space-travelling smart ass decides to escape the compound and hop on the first vehicle out of town—a rented RV containing Earthlings Graeme Willy (Pegg) and Clive Collings (Frost). Chased by federal agents and the fanatical father of a young woman that they accidentally kidnap, Graeme and Clive hatch a fumbling escape plan to return Paul to his mother ship. And as two nerds struggle to help, one little green man might just take his fellow outcasts from misfits to intergalactic heroes.
The film also co-stars Jane Lynch, Jason Bateman, Sigourney Weaver, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Blythe Danner, and Jeffrey Tambor. Trailer thanks to MSN. Paul hits theaters on March 18th 2011.
