'Patriots Day' Trailer: Mark Wahlberg Leads Peter Berg's Boston Marathon Bombing Drama
If you liked Deepwater Horizon last weekend, perhaps you'll want to catch Peter Berg's other new movie based on a real-life tragedy and starring Mark Wahlberg as a down-to-earth hero when it opens later this year.
Patriots Day centers on the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing that killed several people and injured hundreds more. Walhberg plays police sergeant Tommy Saunders, who's present at the scene and in the days that follow, gets involved in the manhunt for the perpetrators. J.K. Simmons, John Goodman, Kevin Bacon, and Michelle Monaghan also star. Watch the Patriots Day trailer below.
Patriots Day Teaser Trailer
The first teaser trailer for Patriots Day features a slowed-down version of "America the Beautiful," which is exactly what you'd expect from a trailer for a movie about an American tragedy. But the actual film should feature some interesting original music. Atticus Ross and Trent Reznor are joining forces on the score, after previously teaming up for the climate change doc Before the Flood and David Fincher's The Social Network, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and Gone Girl.
Patriots Day opens December 21.
An account of the Boston Marathon bombing, PATRIOTS DAY is the powerful story of a community's courage in the face of terror.
In the aftermath of an unspeakable attack, Police Sergeant Tommy Saunders (Mark Wahlberg) joins courageous survivors, first responders and investigators in a race against the clock to hunt down the bombers before they strike again. Weaving together the stories of Special Agent Richard DesLauriers (Kevin Bacon), Police Commissioner Ed Davis (John Goodman), Sergeant Jeffrey Pugliese (J.K. Simmons) and nurse Carol Saunders (Michelle Monaghan) this visceral and unflinching chronicle captures the suspense of one of the most sophisticated manhunts in law enforcement history and celebrates the strength of the people of Boston.
