Star Wars, Alien, Terminator; See 20 Iconic Movie Props You Can Buy This Week
As a film fan, you've likely discussed the notion of owning movie props. If price weren't an issue, what one prop would you love to own? Something from Star Wars perhaps. Something from Alien. Maybe an artifact from a Quentin Tarantino film. Literally, the list could go on and on. And every once in a while, there are movie prop auctions held that allow you to own a piece of film history.
Now, these don't come cheap. A unique prop or costume used in the filming of an iconic movie like Back to the Future or Terminator 2: Judgement Day is going to cost thousands upon thousands of dollars. Sometimes, a lot more. But they are available and it's at least fun to look, right?
Later this week, the Prop Store is hosting one of these auctions. On October 16, almost 400 items from all the films listed above as well as Raiders of the Lost Ark, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Die Hard with A Vengeance, Starship Troopers, Mission Impossible, Hellboy, Death Proof, Scarface, Batman and so many more will go up for auction. It'll take place live in London as well as online. Below, we've selected our twenty favorite lots in the auction. Check out this amazing movie prop auction below.
To register for the auction, visit this link. To see the full list of almost 400 items up for auction, visit this link. And below, we've got photos of our twenty favorites. For more information on each item, visit this link and match it up to the Lot number that's in the file name. Mouse over each for the movie title and lot number. Most of these speak for themselves though and they are all legit. Click on each to see them larger.
The only one that doesn't immediately jump out as identifiable is the papers. Those are every single call sheet and production notice from the filming of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Every one.
But honestly, picking those twenty props above was impossible and personal. There were so, so many others I didn't pick. A huge slew of James Bond stuff, Monty Python stuff, Star Trek, Stanley Kubrick, it's seriously insane. Poke around at the above links, but be aware, none of these pieces are going cheap.
Here's a sizzle reel for the auction as well:
