Monsters: Dark Continent Trailer 2: "Goliath"
Vertigo Films has released another new Monsters: Dark Continent trailer, the sequel to Godzilla director Gareth Edwards' 2010 low budget debut film Monsters.
Ten years on from the events of Monsters, and the 'Infected Zones' have now spread worldwide. In the Middle East a new insurgency has begun. At the same time there has also been a proliferation of Monsters in that region. The Army decide to draft in more numbers to help deal with this insurgency. We follow four fresh new recruits from Detroit as they all excitedly look forward to performing what they were trained to do.
Directed by UK filmmaker Tom Green (Misfits, Blackout), the sequel takes a more action-heavy military perspective and seems to be a change from the original movie, which was more of a suspenseful tease set against an indie human relationship drama. Monsters: Dark Continent Trailer
Monsters: Dark Continent will premiere at the London Film Festival and open in the U.K. on November 28th. They have yet to announce a US release date, but I'm sure it will eventually hit theaters or very least VOD/home video. Here is the official plot synopsis from the studio:
Seven years on from the events of Monsters, and the 'Infected Zones' have spread worldwide. Humans have been knocked off the top of the food chain, with disparate communities struggling for survival. American soldiers are being sent abroad to protect US interests from the Monsters, but the war is far from being won. Noah, a haunted soldier with several tours under his belt, is sent on a mission: an American soldier has gone rogue deep in the Infected Zone, and Noah must reach him and take him out. But when Noah's unit and transport are destroyed, he finds himself with only a young and inexperienced cadet for company – the brother of the man Noah has been sent to kill. The two soldiers must go on a life-altering journey through the dark heart of monster territory, accompanied by a young local woman to guide them. By the time the three of them reach their goal, they will have been forced to confront the fear that the true monsters on the planet may not be alien after all.
