Minka Kelly, Rachael Taylor And Annie Ilonzeh Are ABC's 'Charlie's Angels'?
ABC may have found its Angels. After an exhaustive search, Minka Kelly and Rachael Taylor are now finalizing negotiations to star alongside Annie Ilonzeh in the Charlie's Angels television reboot, which is being overseen by Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar.
You probably won't recognize Ilonzeh, as her most notable role before now was on General Hospital. But Kelly and Taylor should be familiar, the former having starred in Friday Night Lights and the upcoming The Roommate, and the latter appearing in Transformers and Shutter. Learn more about their characters after the break.
Deadline shares the casting news, and also describes the updated roles of the Angels.
Rachael Taylor plays Abby, the youngest and sassiest of the group, and the "privileged daughter of a notorious Wall Street crook". She's an expert con artist, as well as an expert in the defensive combat system Krav Maga.
Annie Ilonzeh plays Kate, the most serious of the trio. She's a highly intelligent and athletic ex-cop and martial arts master who nonetheless knows "how to let her hair down and have a great time".
Minka Kelly, meanwhile, is having her role reworked to better suit her. She would be playing Marisa, a neat freak and former U.S. Marine trained in all forms of weaponry and hand-to-head combat.
None of this is at all out of line with what one would probably expect from another incarnation of Charlie's Angels, especially one that has Leonard Goldberg (one of the producers of the original show) and Drew Barrymore on board as executive producers. They're joined by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who in addition to developing the show, also penned the script for the pilot. Robert Wagner, who played Number Two in the Austin Powers films, has been cast as the titular Charlie.
No word yet on who will be playing Bosley.
