Keanu Reeves Still 'Trying' To Make 'Bill & Ted 3'
Most excellent. While at the Toronto Film Festival promoting Henry's Crime, Keanu Reeves once again confirmed that a third Bill & Ted film might be in the works. "We're trying," he said. "Alex (Winter) and I are still friends and we're talking and we're talking to Chris (Matheson) and Ed (Soloman) and they're gonna try and see if they can write something."
I think surely after Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, there's more story to tell. After the jump, read more of Reeves' quote and hear what Alex Winter had to say, too.
Reeves was talking to MTV when he confirmed that they'd been talking about a sequel. "To me, I'd love to play the role, I'd love to work with Alex and Chris and Ed again, and we'll see what they do," Reeves said. The Matrix actor added that the film would have to "stand up on its own" because he's now meeting people who've "shown the film to their kids." The fact that the 25th anniversary was coming up in four years also excited Reeves, especially the fact that he'd be 50 years old at the time.
Earlier this month, co-star Alex Winter attended a Bill & Ted Double Feature at the New Beverly in Los Angeles and echoed Reeves' statements that if the story was right, it would happen, and that the four men have talked about it.
As we all know, in Hollywood, "talks" really don't mean anything, especially if a story has yet to be settled on and no one is writing a script. Plus, I'd always heard that Reeves was the one party that would not be interested in continuing the story of Bill & Ted. Obviously, though, that was totally false and his involvement would probably be enough for someone to get behind this. (I have no idea where I got that notion that Reeves didn't want to do it because he has expressed interest in the past. Check out this story as well as this one or this one.)
Here's the video of Reeves answering the question. He also gets into some hilarious possibilities for the sequel including Werner Herzog as director.
