Cool Stuff: Joey Spiotto's Storytime 2 Art Show At Gallery 1988
We've featured artist Joey Spiotto's work many times on the site over the past few years. You might recognize his little Golden Book parody covers or his fictional band Vinyl record cover art. We even featured him earlier in the week as his book Alien Next Door hit stores nationwide.
To coincide with his book release, Gallery 1988 is hosting Joey's second solo art show which debuts tonight. Storytime 2 will see a return of Joey Spiotto's demented children's books. Hit the jump to get a preview of some of the 50-or-so pieces which will be on display at the exhibition.
Storytime 2 will take place at Gallery 1988 East (7021 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90038) beginning with a big opening tonight (Friday, November 6th) from 7-9 PM. Here is a preview of some of the artwork which will be on display and available for purchase as prints at the show:
Here is the official information from Gallery 1988:
This Friday night, November 6th, we'll see the return of Joey Spiotto's Storytime, a print exhibit that garnered worldwide attention in 2014 and became one of G1988's most memorable shows. Joey will once again take on his favorite movies, TV shows, musicians and video games to create his own demented children's books. As seen on the front page of Reddit and all across the internet, it's one of the most inventive and witty collections found at the gallery.
Joey will be in attendance for the opening reception tonight. The remaining prints will be available online starting Saturday afternoon at gallery1988.com. Joey will also be signing copies of his book Alien Next Door this coming Saturday at Gallery 1988 East (7021 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA).
