James McAvoy Will Finally Go Bald In 'X-Men Apocalypse'
Comic fans tend to overreact. For example, they know Charles Xavier should be bald and in a wheelchair. But when James McAvoy was cast in the role for X-Men First Class, he had a full head of hair and was walking around. This should not stand! Literally!
By the end of that film, though, the whole standing thing was taken care of. (Sorry, Charles.) Now it seems like the follicle fallacy will soon be solved as well. In a new interview, McAvoy admitted he doesn't know much about 2016's X-Men Apocalypse, but does think he'll finally have to shave his head.
Watch the James McAvoy bald Xavier quote below.
McAvoy spoke to the Huffington Post about the film and said the following:
I have no idea what's going on. I think I'm losing my hair finally. And in the movie. And, yeah, that's kind of all I know. I got an email from the Simon Kinberg, our producer/writer extraordinare, who informed me he was getting dead excited about stuff, but he didn't want to divulge anything for a couple of weeks, so I really don't know. But It seems fairly global, if we're talking apocalypse, maybe it's just the character's name but I think the nature of the movie will be fairly apocalyptic.
Here's the video:
Going bald at this point seems like the natural progression for Charles, simply based on biology if nothing else. If men go bald, they tend to do it between their 20s and 40s. Which is how old he would be in this timeline. Now, it's unclear if it'll be a natural thing or more related to the mutation, like in the comics. You'd have to imagine it'll be a plot point though, something to help Cerebro work better or maybe a radiation effect as it's the Cold War. We'll see.
McAvoy might be finding out in the coming weeks, but we won't find out for a good long time. X-Men Apocalypse starts filming next Spring leading into a May 27, 2016 release.
