James Gunn's 'Super' Will Release On April 1, 2011
Briefly: IFC Films snapped up James Gunn's film Super at the Toronto Film Festival, and now the picture has a release date. The dark, strange comedy will hit theaters on April 1, 2011.
April Fool's Day may be a very appropriate release date for a film about a guy (Rainn Wilson) who becomes a low-rent superhero called the Crimson Bolt when his wife (Liv Tyler) leaves him for a drug dealer (Kevin Bacon). Ellen Page stars as the young woman who becomes his sidekick. Early clips have shown that the movie has a pretty sick sense of humor, and James Gunn promises that it isn't a run of the mill hero movie, and that it also probably isn't for everyone. Personally, I'm really looking forward to the film, and am happy that James Gunn got to make something weird and fun on a super-low budget, and still is able to get it into theaters.
