Cool Stuff: Hot Toys 'Man Of Steel' General Zod Sixth Scale Figure
Sideshow Collectibles sent me a sample of Hot Toys Man Of Steel General Zod Sixth Scale Figure. Lets unbox this figure and take a look at whats inside the box. After the jump you will find photos of the Hot Toys Man Of Steel General Zod Sixth Scale Figure, alongside my thoughts on the product.
I enjoyed Zack Snyder's Man of Steel more than most, enough so that we have a full-sized mondo poster hanging up in our apartment. No one will likely beat Terence Stamp's "kneel before" General Zod from Richard Donner's 1978 Superman film but I really enjoyed Michael Shannon's portrayal of the character in the new film. Aside from his super cool alien armor, its just hard not to admire Shannon's 110% commitment to the character.

The highlight of the Hot Toys Man Of Steel General Zod Sixth Scale Figure is probably the incredible head sculpt by Lee So Young, painted by JC. Hong. The head looks so life-like, an 100% accurate miniature recreation of Michael Shannon's likeness. The head sculptures of the Hot Toys sixth scale figures are usually top notch already, but this one is on another level. Each piece of head sculpt is specially hand-painted — You can see the wrinkles in his grin, some of the freckles on his face, the scar across his head, and of course his eyes have that watery shine that completely sells it.
The sixth scale figure has over 30 points of articulation, and comes with three pairs of interchangeable palms including: relaxed palms, angry fists and open palms. The figure comes complete his one-piece black costume with embossed pattern and full body armor. You can also detach the head sculpt and replace it with General Zod's alien looking helmet (but the head sculpt looks so good, you likely wont). You can attach an included cloth black cape, which looks great with the flying effect.
Lets talk about that. I'm not usually a fan of the figure stands that come with a lot of the Hot Toys sixth scale figures. I feel they often ruin the illusion of the recreation of the film. The Hot Toys Man Of Steel General Zod Sixth Scale Figure comes with a different type of stand, a diamond shaped figure stand with General Zod nameplate and Man of Steel logo. The cool thing about the stand is it has a configurable arm which you can attach the figure to. This arm gives the illusion of flight, and at certain angles it looks so very cool.
General Zod stands just over 12 inches, but the base allows him to fly above the other sixth scale figures on your shelf. I usually put any criticisms in this closing area, but with this sixth scale figure, I don't have any. This is the perfect version of Man of Steel's General Zod period. If you like Man of Steel, look no further.
