'Ghostbusters' Clips: Proton Testing, The New Ecto-1, The First Call, And Ghost Logos
This weekend, the embargo will lift on reviews of Paul Feig's reboot of Ghostbusters. Starting Sunday at 1pm ET/10am PT, the first reactions to the film will be unleashed online and we'll see if this movie has really been worth all the fuss it has garnered on the web.
As you wait for our own reaction to the film when the embargo breaks, you can check out some new Ghostbusters clips that have surfaced online, and these paint a much better picture of the less slapstick oriented comedy. They won't completely change anyone's mind, but they at least offer hope that there's not as much silliness as the trailers have indicated.

Most of this clip was already glimpsed in the featurette that focused on the new Ecto-1, but I continue to like Kate McKinnon's strange behavior as Holtzmann. She will most likely be the character people walk away from this movie loving, even if the film as a whole turns out to be unimpressive.
These are the scenes I'm looking forward to as the ladies gradually become the Ghostbusters that will save the city. This was an aspect of the original Ghostbusters that we didn't entirely get to see as the first "field test" for the equipment was when they were tasked with catching Slimer in the hotel. Seeing them try to perfect the technology is something new that is also entertaining. That ghost design is extremely cool too.
Even though the new Ghostbusters theme by Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott is pretty much universally hated, I think it actually works well in this sequence when the team goes out on what appears to be their first call. Don't get me wrong, the song still isn't very good, but it fits pretty well with the footage on display.
We've seen a bit of the alternate Ghostbusters logo that Chris Hemsworth's secretary character Kevin brings to the table, but it's the second logo that we get to see which brings an even bigger laugh. Hemsworth's character could turn out to be the funniest part of the movie, but I'm still hoping there's more to offer in the vein of clever, smart comedy.
That's all for now. We're in the final stretch of promotion before Ghostbusters hits theaters and I'm anxious to see what the reactions have to say about the reboot. But no matter how the reviews turn out, I'll be seeing this one for myself next week as soon as possible. Remember, the only way to have your own valid opinion on the movie is to see the entire thing for yourself.
Ghostbusters makes its long-awaited return, rebooted with a cast of hilarious new characters. Thirty years after the beloved original franchise took the world by storm, director Paul Feig brings his fresh take to the supernatural comedy, joined by some of the funniest actors working today – Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth. This summer, they're here to save the world! The film is produced by Ivan Reitman and Amy Pascal, and written by Katie Dippold & Paul Feig, based on the 1984 film "Ghostbusters," written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis and directed by Ivan Reitman.
Ghostbusters arrives July 15.
