Fernando Reza's 'Game Of Thrones' Season 6 Posters Feature Murder And Magic And Fire And Blood
It seems like everyone with an ounce of artistic talent and a finger on the pulse of popular culture has paid tribute to HBO's Game of Thrones at this point. You can't walk two steps on the internet without stumbling over a cool poster or a nifty sketch or a fun re-imagining of the show's characters. So it takes something special (like the brilliant Beautiful Death series) to stand out.
And these new Game of Thrones season 6 posters from artist Fernando Reza do stand out, taking a single image or concept from each episode and putting it to paper. And yes, they are available to purchase right now. Each poster should be considered a spoiler, of course.
Each poster drops the week after the previous episode has aired and can be purchased over at Reza's site, Fro Design Company. Each poster measures 11" x 14" and comes in a signed and hand-numbered edition of only 30 prints. So if you want one, you're going to act quickly. If you know you'll want the whole series, you can save a bunch of money and buy the whole lot for $150, which will ship after the season concludes.
Each of the prints released so far is stunning. The poster for "The Red Woman" depicts the dead Jon Snow and the Red Witch Melisandre, transformed into something more ethereal. The poster for "Home" renders that intimate moment between Roose Bolton and Ramsay Bolton, focusing on a certain decision that upsets the balance of power in the north. The "Oathbreaker" poster puts Ser Arthur Dayne, legendary knight of the Targaryen kingsguard, front and center during the flashback to the incident at the Tower of Joy. And finally, "The Book of the Stranger" recreates the jaw-dropping final moments of that episode, when Daenerys emerges from a flaming building and literally changes the game.
We have featured Reza's art on /Film before, like his The Ones That Got Away series, which commemorated some of the most famous unmade films of all time. He was one of several artists to create alternate posters for Star Trek Into Darkness and he created a wonderful series of concert posters for fictional bands.
Game of Thrones season 6 will reach its halfway point this Sunday and you can stay on top of things with our weekly recaps and the Cast of Kings podcast. You can check out Reza's posters for the first four episodes in the gallery below.
