First 'Terminator Genisys' Poster Revealed; Trailer Out Thursday
Marketing for the big 2015 movies is well underway and another massive movie is about to dip its cyborg toe into the water. Terminator Genisys opens July 1, 2015 and the first trailer will be released this Thursday. Before that footage debut, however, the "Living One Sheet" has been revealed. It shows a T-800 skull disintegrating in an almost hourglass fashion. Is this to mark the passage of time? To represent the fall of Skynet? We don't yet know. But check out the first Terminator Genisys poster below.
Here's the Terminator Genisys poster, via the official site.

Is it just me or is this poster a little bit confusing? We already had the controversy behind the Entertainment Weekly images and now there's this. Yes, it's a striking, recognizable image. The Terminator skull is one of those cultural icons everyone knows. But the sand effect is a head scratcher. Knowing the film has to do with time travel, one option might be that the hour glass effect is meant to show the passage of time throughout the film. There's also the fact Arnold Schwarzenegger's character has aged in the film, so maybe it's just a tease of aging Terminators. Or there's also the possibility is has to do with whatever war is being fought in the film. Maybe the humans have finally found a weapon that can destroy Terminators with ease.
Lots of options but, really, we don't know. We'll surely have a better idea come Thursday when we get the first trailer.
Terminator Genisys opens July 2, 2015 and is directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World). It stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator from the first three films, Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, Jason Clarke as John Connor and Matt Smith, Byung-Hun Lee and JK Simmons in mystery roles.
What do you think of the poster?
