Exclusive: Bad-Ass 'Rocky IV' Poster By Jason Edmiston Available On Boxing Day
There's little debate that the first Rocky is the best Rocky. To this day, Sylvester Stallone's Oscar-winning underdog story holds up because of its unpredictable nature and great, unique characters.
The bigger question is, what's the most beloved film of the franchise? The one fans will watch time and time again no matter what else is on. For my money, that's Rocky IV, the montage-mad 1985 film that pitted the Italian Stallion against the unstoppable Ivan Drago, played by Dolph Lundgren in his prime. Rocky IV is by far the cheesiest of the series (squeaking out a win over Rocky III by a close margin) but it's so unabashedly '80s, from the music to the Cold War narrative, that's it's hard not to enjoy.
Rocky IV has gotten some poster love in the past but Jason Edmiston's newest gem takes the cake. It perfectly represents the film's over-the-top tone while also being just a damn good looking poster. Skuzzles will release the poster on Boxing Day, December 26, and /Film is proud to exclusively give you a glimpse at the gorgeous Rocky IV poster by Jason Edmiston.
Here's the Rocky IV poster by Jason Edmiston, which is officially licensed.
The English writing is the regular. It's a 24 x 36 inch, 9 color screenprint in an edition of 150. It'll cost $50. The Russian variant is the same, but in an edition of 75 and will cost $60.
The poster will go on sale at 3 p.m. EST on Boxing Day, which is Friday Dec. 26th at www.skuzzles.com.
From a Rocky IV fan perspective, this poster is pretty self-explanatory. From an art fan's perspective, it's just super cool to see Jason Edmiston do a proper 24 x 36 inch movie poster. He usually does highly detailed, gorgeous portraits; this takes that approach to a whole new level. It's like he did an Ivan Drago portrait, then made it into something more.
