Exclusive Poster Debut: Alejandro Jodorowsky's 'The Dance Of Reality'
One of my most anticipated films of the year is the documentary Jodorowsky's Dune, about the effort by Alejandro Jodorowsky (The Holy Mountain, El Topo) to film Frank Herbert's titanic novel. 2014 will turn out to be a great year for fans of Jodorowsky, as we get not only that doc, but a new film from the director. It's Jodorowsky's first film in 23 years, and so The Dance of Reality is kind of a big deal.
The film was shot in Tocopilla, a coastal town on the edge of the Chilean desert, where Jodorowsky was born in 1929. The film is an autobiographical vision of sorts, as it blends "his personal history with metaphor, mythology and poetry, reflecting Jodorowsky's philosophy that reality is not objective but rather a "dance" created by our own imaginations."
The film premiered at Cannes last year, and will soon play at SXSW, where the Chilean director will also do a Q&A. Yesterday it was announced that ABKCO Films will release the new movie in theaters in New York and LA on May 23, and it will expand to more theaters afterward.
Below, you can see the exclusive debut of the theatrical poster, and check out the trailer.
