Edward Norton In Talks For Villain Role In 'The Bourne Legacy'
Briefly: Jeremy Renner is going to lose his memory as the lead of Universal's Jason Bourne spin-off franchise, which will be launched by a film called The Bourne Legacy. Now he may have an adversary in Edward Norton. The latter is in talks to play a character whose identity we do not yet know (appropriate for the Bourne series, I suppose) in the film that Tony Gilroy wrote and will direct. What a great choice that is — Ed Norton is perfectly suited for a pulpy but smart action/thriller, and we know that he can be supremely menacing when he decides to exude evil.
This is not a sequel to any of the existing Bourne films, per se, but a parallel storyline that takes place in the same world and involves some of the same political and intelligence machinations that led to the events in the three Matt Damon movies. The only other actor we know is on board is Rachel Weisz, who will play "an operative from a covert government program that is even more dangerous than the Treadstone brainwashing program that hatched Bourne."
